Russian mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin appeared in a videoin which he welcomed the fighters of the “Wagner” group in Belarus, and informed them that for the time being they will no longer participate in the war in Ukraine, reports Reuters.
The video, whose origin Reuters could not confirm, shows a man who sounds like Prigogine in voice and speech welcoming his men by saying: “Welcome guys… Welcome to Belarusian soil.” The video was shot at night and Prigozhin himself cannot be clearly recognized.
“We fought fair”, said Prigozhin. “You have done a lot for Russia. What is happening at the front is a disgrace in which we should not be involved.”

Prigogine encouraged his people to maintain good relations with the locals and orders them to train the Belarusian army and gather forces for a “new journey to Africa”.
“And maybe we’ll go back to SVO (the special military operation in Ukraine) at some point when we are sure that we will not be forced to be ashamed,” Prigozhin said.

This new development comes after a week in which the western media disseminated the personal opinion of a retired American generalthat Prigozhin is most likely dead or rotting under lock and key in some dark Russian prison.
