Employers and trade unions in the catering industry have reached an agreement on this, according to FNV Horeca, CNV Vakmensen and trade association Koninklijke Horeca Nederland (KHN).
The collective labor agreement must enter into force on January 1 and is valid for one year. The members of the unions may first comment on the content.
Most experience
According to FNV director Edwin Vlek, everyone in the catering industry is improving, but the largest wage increases are for people with the most experience. This group of people received extra attention from the unions because they do not benefit from the rising minimum wage.
Although many catering entrepreneurs are having a hard time, according to KHN chairman Marijke Vuik, and have to ‘turn over every euro three times’ due to all the increased costs, the new collective labor agreement is necessary to keep the catering industry attractive as an employer.
In addition to higher wages, the collective labor agreement pays attention to a better work-life balance, including by setting a limit on the number of hours that may be worked overtime.
A minimum compensation has also been set for interns of 350 euros gross for a full working week.
