Last year, 13,084 Viennese received training and further education funding from waff totaling 17.7 million euros – this is a new funding record for the “Vienna Employees’ Promotion Fund”. Compared to 2022, 18 percent more people were supported. The funding amount increased by 45 percent, as waff announced on Monday.
The waff is an institution of the City of Vienna that aims to improve the employment situation for people in Vienna through support for further training and retraining. 55 percent of waff’s employed clients are migrants, and more than half of unemployed Viennese have at most a compulsory school leaving certificate. In order to obtain an apprenticeship qualification, funding of up to 5,000 euros is possible. waff places a particular focus on supporting women, who make up two thirds of waff customers.
