WADA decides not to appeal decision on Jannik Sinner’s alleged doping case

Jannik Sinner

Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner, currently ranked world number one by the ATP, has been acquitted of a case of violating anti-doping rules, Corriere della Sera reported, citing the secretariat of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has chosen not to appeal this decision.

On August 20, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) released a statement saying that Sinner had failed two anti-doping tests in March. However, he was not disqualified under the ITIA’s decision, after it was found that the samples were contaminated by a spray used by his physiotherapist to treat a cut on his finger.

Remember, Sinner won the 2024 US Open, defeating American player Taylor Fritz in the final decided in three sets, (6-3, 6-4, 7-5). This victory represents the second Grand Slam title for the Italian.
