The “Stars of Sports” are Germany’s most important club competition in popular sports. The German Olympic Sports Confederation and the Volksbanken Raiffeisenbanken award sports clubs that are particularly socially committed beyond their sporting offer.
33 of 650 associations from the region made it into the final selection with their projects. Andreas Hostalka from Volksbank Vogtland-Saale-Orla eG was delighted as a board member with the Wackerans, who incidentally share first place with the SV 04 Plauen-Oberlosa club (dance department). Third place went to VFC Plauen.
In addition to District Administrator Rolf Keil and other prominent representatives from sport, society and politics, Yvonne Magwas was among the congratulators. The member of the Bundestag has been campaigning for the Ostvorstadt and the Mammen area for six years. She had helped several times when the saw got stuck somewhere.

“For the residential area and for the whole city of Plauen is the 1. FC Wacker no longer an ordinary football club. The Wackeraner show again and again what is possible if you stick together. Especially now during the corona pandemic, Wacker has found a way to be there for people outside of sport. This club house is a prime example of social commitment. Thank you Wacker ”, Yvonne Magwas sent a personal greeting to the 300-member association. (Source: 1. FC Wacker Plauen)
