Whatsapp message reaction preview is now implemented on desktop and WA Web.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Most of the popular messaging apps like Instagram, iMessage, Twitter, Slack, and Facebook Messenger give you the ability to react to messages with emojis. However, WhatsApp currently does not have this feature.
This may change soon as the company looks to be working on a reaction emoji feature. Previously, users were able to see reactions to WhatsApp messages on smartphones. Now, users have a preview of the reaction workable on whatsapp web and desktop applications.
WABetaInfo shows at a glance the reaction of messages in WhatsApp for desktop. At the moment, it seems WhatsApp is planning to add six emojis for reacting, unlike its sister apps Instagram and Facebook Messenger which allow react with the user’s preferred emoji.
Quoted Android PoliceMonday (7/3/2022), WABetaInfo says to react to a message, you need to hover over it and a reaction button will appear on the side. On clicking that button, you will be greeted by an emoji right above the message. Then you can choose the reaction emoji.
Unfortunately, this feature is still in the works and you won’t see it in beta versions of the app for PC and smartphones at this time. However, since WhatsApp has been working on it for a long time, it is likely that WhatsApp will release it soon.
Before it goes live in the regular version, it will likely be in beta. So you can sign up for the beta program to try it out for the first time. The development team at WhatsApp is also currently working on several other new features, such as WhatsApp Community, a revamped voice calling interface, and a redesigned media selector.
