A Bohemian Rhapsody: The W Prague Hotel Sets the Stage for Luxury Reinvented
Prague, the Czech capital renowned for its bohemian spirit and architectural grandeur, has a dazzling new address: the W Prague.
Making its debut as both the first W Hotels location in the Czech Republic and a stunning revitalization of the historic Grand Hotel Evropa, the W Prague is poised to redefine luxury hospitality. Once a beacon of innovation in the early 20th century, the landmark property embraces a bold, contemporary vision while honoring its storied past.
With its signature blend of unconventional luxury, playful design, and curated experiences, W Prague is not just a hotel; it’s a social and cultural hub. The hotel’s 161 chic guest rooms and suites, including the WOW Bohemia Duplex – a stunning penthouse with restored beams and arched windows – offer an indulgent escape with a modern twist.
"The opening of ‘The W Prague’ promises travelers an unexpected and engaging experience in the heart of one of ‘Europe’s most cultured and lively‘ cities,” said Helen Leighton, Vice President, Luxury Brands & Communications, EMEA. “We look forward to our guests immersing themselves in this creative city and experiencing its charm through the hotel’s striking design, innovative dining concepts, and exceptional guest service”.
The transformation of the Grand Hotel Evropa was a collaborative effort between internationally acclaimed architects Benoy and award-winning design firm AvroKO’s London Studio, along with local designers Chapman Taylor. This powerhouse team drew inspiration from Prague’s rich culture and the building’s Art Nouveau roots.
The design evokes the magical concept of the "Elixir," a symbol of tradition and innovation, nature and industry, reality and fantasy. This theme, playing on Prague’s nickname as the "City of Gold," is subtly woven throughout the hotel’s design, from whimsical floral chandeliers in the corridor connecting the heritage building and new wing, to the golden shimmer of the WET Spa’s pool area.
A highlight of the redesign is the "Fantastical Garden", inspired by the whimsical artistry of Czech legend Alphonse Mucha. This theme weaves through both the historic and new wings, inviting guests on a journey of discovery and wonder, culminating in the stunning "dripping crystal" installation by Preciosa Lighting, a magnificent tribute to Bohemian heritage.
But W Prague is more than just stunning visuals. It’s a dynamic platform for culinary exploration.
Once the epicenter of Prague’s social scene in the 1920s, the Grand Café is rising from its slumber, partnering with Monaco-based restaurateur, Riccardo Giraudi. Le Petit Beefbar at Grand Café redefines the steakhouse concept with a focus on sharing plates and globally inspired recipes, using premium local meats.
The W Lounge, a stylish oasis tucked away on the ground floor, transforms seamlessly from a relaxing daytime retreat to a vibrant evening hotspot. It spills out onto ‘The W Lounge Garden’,
a secret haven perfect for enjoying signature cocktails and sharing plates. Curated music, led by Music Curator Adriana Mižigárová, sets the tone for the
night, while the hidden speakeasy tucked away ‘The W Lounge’ offers
a more intimate setting for post-dinner drinks.
High above the city skyline, the Above Rooftop offers breathtaking views, refreshing cocktails, and a curated soundtrack – the perfect spot for al fresco relaxation
Descend to Minus One, a multi-faceted venue with a constantly changing rhythm. Here, award-winning mixologist Jan Šebek crafts innovative cocktails. Once the revelry heats up, Minus One transforms into a performance space, further enhancing its versatility.
For those seeking serenity, W Prague offers AWAY Spa, a blissful escape with a thermal suite featuring a sauna, steam room, whirlpool, and the signature All Seasons Water Journey, a multisensory experience that replicates the sensations of the four seasons.
The hotel’s state-of-the-art FIT gym, including Fitness on Demand offerings, allows guests to maintain their fitness routine.
W Prague is more than just a hotel; it’s a cultural beacon, a vibrant social hub, and an artistic experience rolled into one. It is a celebration of Prague’s enduring charm reimagined for the modern traveler.
