Very many have written off the brand new VW Golf due to the company’s brand new electric ID3, which is in exactly the same segment.
Golf, the icon that has been No. 1 in Norway for 18 years and sold in over 270,000 copies, is in fact Norway’s best-selling car of all time.
Test: VW e-Golf
If we look at the sales figures for Golf in recent years, e-Golf and the rechargeable GTE have mostly been sold. Therefore, there has been uncertainty about what kind of fate the different Golf models would have here in Norway, because they are available in numerous engine combinations from the factory.

Now the importer announces that Norway’s best-selling car of all time will come in new versions:
- Golf GTI
- Golf GTE
- Golf Style eHybrid,
- Golf TSI 190 4 Motion
- 110 eTSI
Many will probably miss diesel and four-wheel drive. You do not get that in this class anymore.
110 eTSI
The new entry-level model in the Golf program will be the mild hybrid eTSI 110 hp with DSG automatic transmission. It will have, among other things, “Front Assist” with emergency brake function, predictive cruise control, “Lane Assist” and LED headlights, three-zone air conditioning and the digital instruments “Innovision Cockpit” as standard with prices from 343,700 kroner.
The 1-liter has a torque of 200 Nm, and accelerates to 100 km / h in 9.9 seconds. It can tow a trailer of 1300 kg. Mixed consumption is 5.2 liters / 100 km (WLTP).

Golf Style eHybrid
This is the “sensible” variant of two rechargeable hybrids. It gets the same 1.4 TFSI engine as the previous generation Golf GTE, ie 150 hp and 250 Nm. The electric motor is 105 horses.
Style eHybrid has 204 hp and 350 Nm of torque and an electric range of up to 71 km (WLTP) thanks to larger battery capacity, now 13 kWt. Golf Style eHybrid will cost from 423,700 kroner.
Golf GTE
The new Golf GTE eHybrid will get 245 hp and 400 Nm of torque via the same engine package as the weaker eHybrid. It’s the same power that the previous generation GTI Performance had – and exactly the same as the standard GTI gets today.
0-100 km / h is done in 6.7 seconds and the top speed is 225 km / h. This is basically a GTI. It even has higher torque, so the arguments for buying a GTI are fewer. It also gets a battery of 13 kWt, but the range is only up to 52 km (WLTP) due to more sporty settings of the drive.
GTE has become the prettiest Gulf
Both hybrids can pull a trailer of 1500 kg, and pre-air conditioning can be programmed via the app «We Connect». GTE eHybrid has risen in price and will cost from 467,200 kroner, only 10,000 kroner less than GTI.
GTI
The Golf GTI has been an icon for car enthusiasts for over 43 years. Now comes a brand new edition. It gets a two-liter TSI petrol engine of 245 hp and 370 Nm of torque. It gives an acceleration to 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds, while the top speed is 250 km / h.
It keeps away from the GTE and is, despite quite a few exterior changes, a far more sporty car to drive.
But this is probably the very latest GTI without a hybrid driveline and it becomes strictly less and less relevant when it is no longer even possible to order with a manual gearbox in Norway.
The funniest Gulf gets dice roll 6
It has a distinctive styling with a traditional beehive pattern in the air intake, red GTI logo and moldings, red brake calipers and checkered seats.
The new Golf GTI will cost from 475,500 kroner.
Golf R
The most vibrant Gulf will still be available in Norway. It has not been launched yet, but will probably be at exactly the same level as before, just over 300 horses, 7-speed DSG and four-wheel drive.
Variant
The station wagon that goes under Variant has already been launched and shown in all variants, including Alltrack. None of these are offered in Norway. The reason for this is first and foremost a sharply declining segment and because it does not come as a rechargeable hybrid.
