VW and Audi computers hacked, data stolen from 3 million customers

NEW YORK – There’s been a lot of action lately hack which befell a number of large companies in the world who ultimately demanded a ransom to secure the data.

This hacking action happened to Volkswagen and Audi. Hackers managed to steal data revealing contact information, personal details, such as driver’s license numbers, subscribers in the United States and Canada.

Reported by CNN, more than 3 million customer data or basic contact information stolen from hackers.

That data includes phone numbers, email addresses, postal mailing addresses and, in some cases, vehicle identification numbers.

The company has reached 90,000 people in the US who are mostly Audi customers or buyers. The stolen data includes driver’s license number, Social Security number, VW or Audi account number and date of birth.

Not only VW customer data, even VW prospective customer data were also hacked by thieves, according to a statement from Volkswagen USA.

Stolen data hacker is data from outside vendors collected by VW and Audi from 2014-2019.

Data, which was stolen from outside vendors used by VW and Audi and some of their dealers, was collected between 2014 and 2019.

The information has been collected and stored for marketing purposes, according to VW (VLKPF) and has been left in unsafe files. VW did not name the vendor.

“We regret any inconvenience this may cause to our current or potential customers,” VW USA said in a statement.

“As always, we advise individuals to remain alert to suspicious emails or other communications that may ask them to provide information about themselves or their vehicle,” he said.
