The Hague D66 councilor Fonda Sahla is going to the House of Representatives to temporarily replace Rens Raemakers. Raemakers, who was already hit by a burnout in 2020, is taking sick leave due to health problems. Sahla, who is known as an extremely good councilor, shares an enthusiastic video message on Twitter from former VVD leader Frits Bolkestein who does not hide his joy about her appointment. The 88-year-old former politician only thinks it is a shame that she is not going into the Chamber for his own party. “I am sure you will do very well. Unfortunately for the wrong party. But hey, you can’t have everything.”
In 2016 I had the honor to receive Mr Bolkestein as a guest lecturer at the weekend school of the Transvaal University in The Hague to encourage our young people to seize the opportunities to achieve self-fulfillment.
Today I received this beautiful statement of support as a congratulation pic.twitter.com/TOCtSy03UF— Fonda Sahla ???? (@Fonda_Sahla) October 16, 2021
Here is the video in which Sahla introduces herself as a candidate for the parliamentary elections in March this year.
