Seventy-two pig breeders were delivered this Saturday, in the municipality of Chibia, province of Huíla, to 36 vulnerable families, to promote pig farming, within the framework of the Integrated Program for Local Development and Combating Poverty.
Each family received a male and a female, of the large white breed, in order to stimulate the genetic improvement of the pig species, generate income, create jobs and combat hunger and poverty in the communities.
This is the second delivery of matrices this year, the first taking place in October, with 50 distributed, to empower 25 peasant families.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, Jaíde dos Santos expressed gratitude for the animals that will be used to enhance the activities within families.
“The gesture will be engraved in our memories, as it will guarantee economic strengthening and boost business for the sustainable development of families”, he continued.
In turn, the administrator of Chibia, Sérgio da Cunha Velho, asked the beneficiaries to take care of them in the best possible way so that they can then make matrices available for the market and the administration can purchase them for other families, replicating them to generate more income.
During the delivery, several agricultural inputs were also distributed to four women’s agricultural associations, donated last week by the MPLA vice-president, Luísa Damião, during a visit carried out in the district.
In relation to agricultural inputs, the administrator stated that they hope for good results in the current agricultural campaign with the support provided in them.
He made it known that the agricultural associations of Mulembas, Lufinda, Fazenda Amélia and Mulheres Unidas that received the inputs are made up of more than 30 women each.
