The moment will soon come when Belgrade will be forced to do this due to strong pressure from the West, the head of state said
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that Belgard will soon have to impose sanctions against the Kremlin: “Serbia will have to impose sanctions against Russia due to strong pressure from the West.
The moment will soon come when Belgrade will be forced to do this,” the head of state said in an interview with Serbian TV Prva, UNIAN agency reports.
However, Vucic hopes that he will be able to delay the process of imposing sanctions:
“Let me hold them (sanctions – ed.) as long as possible. I will find out when the time is right and I will not hide anything from the people. This moment has been coming for a long time, I’m afraid it’s not even a matter of months,” the Serbian leader said.
Vucic explained that Belgrade has a lot of Western investments, so it should follow the path of European sanctions. However, he predicted chaos in terms of the unity of the two sides in the conflict.
“Now it is not known who is winning in Ukraine, whether there is complete unity in the West at all, unlike Russia, which was not the case at the beginning…
We are heading towards complete chaos and in this situation Serbia will literally be between a rock and a hard place.
Therefore, we must know that the largest part of our investments are from the West, we are on the European path and we must take care of the financial and economic interests of our children,” added Vucic.
