VTM decides not to broadcast film ‘Ad fundum’: “Inappropriate…

Contrary to what was announced in the TV guide, the film was To the bottom – about a student baptism that goes wrong – not to be seen on VTM on Sunday evening. “In light of Sanda Dia’s death, it would have been inappropriate to broadcast it,” said spokeswoman Tine Danschieter.

“Some viewers have pointed this out to us and we really appreciate that. We have therefore replaced the film,” it continues. Instead, the viewer got Bingo, a comedy with Sven and Ruud De Ridder.

To the bottom (1993), with Tom Van Landuyt and Mathias Sercu, among others, was Erik Van Looy’s first full-length film. The drama is about a young man who dies during a student baptism, after which everyone involved keeps their hands off the incident. This is reminiscent of the death of Sanda Dia (20), who died in December 2018 after a derailed initiation by the Leuven student club Reuzegom. Eighteen members now risk years in prison.
