PRAGUE. Monday’s match in the 30th round of the second highest Czech hockey league was preceded by a very curious situation.
The visiting team of Vsetín set out on a trip to Pelhřimov, where they were supposed to play a match against Dukla Jihlava. However, he forgot one of the players, forward Ľuboš Rob, when he stopped at the gas station.
The bus with the rest of the team had to go back and arrived at the match half an hour later.
Despite the fact that it was an unexpected event, the visitors ended up winning 2-0, with 28-year-old Rob scoring the winning goal.
The head coach of Vsetín, Jiří Weintritt, commented on this unusual situation for TN.czemphasizing that in 22 years in the world of hockey, he does not know a club where something like this would not happen.
“Ninety percent of the bus is sleeping, so the control was rather minimal. We figured it out right away after about two hundred meters of driving onto the highway, but unfortunately you can’t back out of it. Fortunately, he had his phone with him, so at least he bought a coffee before we came back for him,” he explained.
Of course, the whole situation did not escape the attention of the team, and as the coach noted, the players burst out laughing when Rob came out of the gas station with coffee in hand.
Despite the delay, Vsetín was able to concentrate on the match and played a great duel, which was also confirmed by the coach.
“We came to the match with Jihlava 25 minutes later than usual. But the team caught the start of the meeting, which was important, it had no effect on our performance. We won, and even kept a clean sheet.”
