Former VRT presenter Pros Verbruggen passed away on Saturday morning at the age of 93. That writes VRT NWS. Verbruggen was one of the founders of the young Flemish public broadcaster and was best known for the live broadcasts from Expo 58 and the TV quiz “100,000 or nothing”.

Verbruggen already ended up at the NIR, the distant predecessor of the VRT, in 1948. After renditions in radio plays and a number of years as a radio presenter, Verbruggen was first seen on the television screen with the popular “100,000 or nothing”. His real breakthrough, however, came with reporting from Expo 58. Later he also reported on the weddings of Albert and Paola and Boudewijn and Fabiola. After his retirement, Verbruggen was one of the founders of VT4.
