Pertamina, the state energy company, has been urged to step up its risk management and evaluation procedures by Vice President Ma’ruf Amin. The request follows a second refinery fire, which broke out at Putri Tujuh refinery in Dumai, Riau, on 1 April. An explosion and fire at the Plumpang refinery in Jakarta occurred on 3 March. Ma’ruf Amin stated that governance and risk management procedures needed reviewing to minimise future risks.
