VP Ma’ruf Amin urges Pertamina to improve risk management and governance after another oil refinery fire in Indonesia.

Pertamina, the state energy company, has been urged to step up its risk management and evaluation procedures by Vice President Ma’ruf Amin. The request follows a second refinery fire, which broke out at Putri Tujuh refinery in Dumai, Riau, on 1 April. An explosion and fire at the Plumpang refinery in Jakarta occurred on 3 March. Ma’ruf Amin stated that governance and risk management procedures needed reviewing to minimise future risks.
