Beate Meinl-Reisinger: “We have to reinvent ourselves.” – neos have failed politically and socially on all levels
Vienna (OTS) – The neos entered the political arena in Vienna with big announcements in terms of transparency, justice and cleanliness – there is nothing left of that in the meantime. In addition, neos federal party leader Beate Meinl-Reisinger had to justify herself to today’s ORF “press hour”. The debacle of the neos in the state elections in Carinthia, the farewell of the neos from the Salzburg state parliament and the complete failure of the government in Vienna present the federal party chairwoman with serious tasks.
neos distract from their own failures in Vienna
While the federal government recently passed an anti-inflation package, Meinl-Reisinger criticizes the measures.
The ÖVP in the federal government has already shown the way: cold progression was abolished, social and family benefits were adjusted to the annual automatic valorisation for the first time, additional child contributions were increased and the tax exemptions and deductions were valorised and recently decided: by the end of 2024, families with children, single parents and single earners will get with low income monthly 60 euros per child. The neos in the Vienna city government can take this as an example, follow suit and abolish the Valorisation Act, as the Vienna People’s Party has been demanding for a long time.
Instead, the neos fuel inflation in the federal capital. School costs and food contributions to municipal and private kindergartens will be increased by 10.5 percent to EUR 79.95 per month and child. “While the federal government is always supporting people in this country with relief packages, the costs in the federal capital are to be increased in return. “It must not and cannot be!” said City Councilor Karl Mahrer.
Education and integration failures bear pink handwriting
Official failure, abuse scandal, subsidy scandal, record deficit at the Viennese adult education centres, shortage of teachers at the Viennese schools and the attempts to cover up the Wien Energie case left catastrophic conditions in the federal capital with pink government participation.
In Vienna City Hall, the neos have long since submitted to the SPÖ system. The failure of the city of Vienna is not only carried by the SPÖ alone, but also by the pink handwriting under Education City Councilor Christoph Wiederkehr. Not only that: a lack of knowledge of German in schools and the fact that 8 out of 10 compulsory school students do not meet the educational goals cause enormous problems in Vienna, as the failed integration and high youth unemployment show.
