Voz en punto presents “Mexico a cappella”: Three Concerts in Guanajuato Municipalities

Guanajuato, Gto., September 5, 2023.- This weekend, the a cappella vocal ensemble Voz en punto will give three concerts in three municipalities: San José Iturbide, Salamanca and Dolores Hidalgo, with a concert entitled “Mexico a cappella”, where they will pay tribute to our country.

Directed by José Galván, the group was founded in 1990 with the intention of dedicating their talents to sharing the history of Mexican music. It is with this scenic proposal that he offers a testimony of the musical wealth of the country, using the resources of the most wonderful instrument that human beings have always had: the voice.

Hence his name, Voz en punto, with which he has trodden stages in different countries such as the United States, France, Switzerland, Germany, Russia, Romania, Austria, Finland, Spain, Greece, Holland, Egypt, Ecuador, Colombia, China, Korea and Japan.

The ensemble has had the honor of being a special guest on stage with emblematic figures of vocal music such as Bobby McFerrin and the King’s Singers, as well as important orchestras such as the Dresden Symphony, the Mercury Baroque, the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico and the Camerata Salzburg.

In addition to the musical part, in an ensemble he has ventured into the theater with protagonists of the Mexican scene such as Mario Iván Martínez and Astrid Hadad. Also in cinema, he had an outstanding participation in the soundtrack of the animated film “La leyenda de la Nahuala”, which shows his interest in expanding his horizons in the artistic field.

It will be on Friday the 8th of this month when the vocal group will perform at the Auditorium of the Casa de la Cultura in San José Iturbide; he will continue his small tour in the Center for the Arts, the scenic classroom of this venue and will finally conclude on Sunday the 10th with his presentations with the Dolorense public in the main garden.

“A cappella singing has its golden age in the Renaissance, but for us it has been very beautiful because the center of our proposal is Mexican music. That is why we have done concerts with viceroyalty music but it has also been very nice to bring this language to the traditional and popular music of Mexico, such as danzones, boleros, sones”, said the director in an interview with Milenio.

The presentation that will take place at the Arts Center will be at 5:00 p.m. Access is free of charge.
