The cause of the increase is because the number of registered residents increased and the Government of Guatemala and the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance have not yet concluded the emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, so it was necessary to open other centers and avoid the agglomeration of people.

In Xela there is a record of 120,663 registered people, there are 303 polling stations, 44 polling stations, 12 more than four years ago, and the majority will be in public educational centers, the headquarters of the Centro Universitario de Occidente, as well as such as private colleges and universities, in the different areas of Xela.
