Voter turnout at 11 pm for referendums and regional elections 2020: the data

very close to 40 per cent the share of voters who, on Sunday 20 September, decided to go to the polls to take part in the referendum constitutional on the reform that provides for the cut in the number of parliamentarians (which in the House would go from 630 to 400 while in the Senate it would drop from 315 to 200). The data, still partial, communicated by the Ministry of the Interior: when the data of 7,781 municipalities out of 7,903 arrived, the figure of 39.40%.

We remind you that this is a confirmatory referendum, for the validity of which it will not be necessary to reach the quorum (here we explain why). If today’s voting trend continues, that’s very likely on Monday the threshold of 50 percent of voters is exceeded.

In addition to the referendum, Italian citizens are called to the polls for the regional elections (in Valle d’Aosta, Veneto, Liguria, Tuscany, Marche, Campania and Puglia: here the guide with all the candidates), municipal (over a thousand municipalities vote: here they are) e suppletive (in Veneto and Sardinia). The turnout figures for these consultations are shown below.

In all the regions, voting also for the administrative ones, the turnout at 11pm is higher than the national average: the case of Market, where at 11 pm 47.56% of those entitled voted; of the Valle d’Aosta, at 56.37%; of the Liguria, 44.08%; of the Veneto, at 51.07%; of the Tuscany, at 47.68%; of the Puglia, 43.66%, of the Campania, al 41,97%.

In Abruzzo the turnout was 36.47%; in Basilicata 34.68%; in Calabria 32.24%; in Emilia Romagna 41.6%; in Friuli Venezia Giulia 36.34%; in Lazio 33.61; in Lombardy 39.74; in Molise 33.68; in Piedmont 39.46; in Sardinia 22.73%; in Sicily of 25.08; in Trentino Alto Adige 55.11%; in Umbria 33.09%.

While we await the data relating to the end of the day, here are the turnouts for the regional elections at 19: Campania 26.52%; Liguria 32.07%; Puglia 27.6%; Veneto 35.55%. In all cases, the participation rate in the Regionals is lower than that relating to the referendum vote.

Voting operations will continue tomorrow, Monday, from 7 to 15. At the end – from 3 pm – the first exit polls will be published; the ballot will start from the referendum cards, will then continue with those of the Regionals, and only on Tuesday will it concern the preferences expressed for the Municipalities (and the Valle d’Aosta region: who find the timetable guide to follow the flow of results, who a guide to interpret them and understand who won and who didn’t).
