As you may know, it was a consultation that made it possible to choose the names of the two most recent schools in Nantes: Alice Guy, located in the former Mellinet barracks, and Germaine Tillion, on the ZAC Champ de Manoeuvre. A new school will be delivered at the start of the school year in September 2023, in the ZAC Doulon Gohards. It will eventually accommodate up to 6 kindergarten classes and 10 elementary classes in an energy-efficient, bright and spacious building, with extensive greenery.
Six names of remarkable women were submitted in December to 8 classes and an extracurricular group from neighboring schools, Julien Gracq and Maurice Macé. The 200 children solicited chose the oceanographer Anita Conti (28% of the vote), the explorer and botanist Jeanne Barret (22%) and the cartoonist Claire Bretécher (21%) ahead of the teacher Élisa Bordillon (13% ), marine biologist Jeanne Villepreux Power (11%), and surrealist artist Claude Cahun (5%)/
From now on, it’s up to you to choose, among the finalists, the name that the new school will bear.
Voting is open from Monday 16 to Monday 23 January 2023. You can vote:
- On the social networks of the City of Nantes (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
- In ballot boxes placed in the Julien-Gracq and Maurice-Macé schools
- Directly on this form:
The name of the school will then be discussed at the municipal council on February 3.
