/ world today news/ For the first time in the history of the Oscars, the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has allowed online voting in determining the nominations.
The fate of the Oscars will be decided by 5,856 representatives with equal voting rights. Previously, nominees were determined by voting with special ballots that had to be mailed to the jury by January 3. The voting period has now been extended until January 4.
The nominees for the most prestigious film award will be announced on January 10. The ceremony will take place on February 25 and will be broadcast in 225 countries around the world.
