The volunteers didn’t understand at all. At first Katrien, Donald and the other Indian runner were nowhere to be seen and the black Muscovy duck of the Park de Woid Foundation lay dead in the water. And later it turned out that the little white duck that was so loved at the petting zoo was no longer there. A few weeks later it is finally clear what happened at the petting zoo. “We have installed wildlife cameras,” says coordinator Inge Vriend. “And there was clearly a fox on it. He did it smartly, because he didn’t leave any traces.”
The animal has made many victims. “We had received two runner ducks from the deer park in Enkhuizen. He took one of those. And our beautiful turkey. Who would expect them to attack such a large animal? The turkey had a chick and she protected it with her life. Fortunately, the little one survived.”
