“Profil” unveiling: A former top trade unionist apparently will receive a lucrative salary from A1 Telekom Austria for the next 10 years – without having to work for a single day.
In its new edition, the news magazine “profil” reveals: The former deputy chairwoman of the union of postal and telecommunications employees will receive an estimated monthly fee of EUR 3,600 from A1 Telekom Austria until February 2030 – without having to work for it!
–
Generous pay instead of a new job in the company
In the personnel representative elections in autumn 2019, she missed a mandate. Instead of assigning her a job in the company, according to the “profil” report, Telekom board members Marcus Grausam and Sonja Wallner agreed a generous arrangement with Silvia Bauer in December 2019.
–
Accordingly, the former personnel representative will remain employed at Telekom Austria until she retires in 2030, but will be released from service in the long term.
–
Part of the “profil” agreement is a voluntary severance payment in the amount of 24 monthly fees, which, at Bauer’s request, has been paid monthly in advance since the beginning of 2020 with the current fee.
–
For the Social Democratic Trade Unionist (FSG) faction, Silvia Bauer sat on the central committee of A1 Telekom Austria for many years and was even a member of the supervisory board of the Telekom Austria Group holding company from 2012 to 2018.
–
No reaction from Telekom
Why the Telekom board of directors granted such a generous regulation remained unanswered to “profil” demand. According to a Telekom spokesman, “no information is given on” individual data on employees for data protection reasons “.

GPF: There are no privileges for trade unionists
The union of postal and telecommunications staff has registered for this. “The notified profil article shows once again very clearly which dubious attacks against the GPF and the employee representatives in A1-Telekom are started again,” says Helmut Köstinger, Federal Chairman of the GPF, on the accusations of “profil”.
–
Köstinger made it clear in a press release that “the Bauer case has nothing to do with either the GPF or the FSG. Ms. Bauer resigned from her position as deputy chairwoman in 2015 and had no mandate in A1 Telekom since 2018”.
–
The letter also clarifies that neither the GPF nor the FSG were involved in the agreement between A1-Telekom and Ms. Bauer and therefore neither know any details about it.
–
“The fact is that at the time of her agreement with A1-Telekom, Ms. Bauer was not an official of the GPF or an official of the FSG, and thousands of similar individual agreements had been made between employer A1-Telekom AG and employees in recent years,” says Köstinger.
–
The GPF chairman concluded: “It would be time to stop the dubious attacks on the part of profil against the GPF and the FSG in the GPF and to emphasize the outstanding performance of the many GPF officials.”
