Two successful films are starting off with “The Equation of Their Life” at 5.30 p.m. and the summer comedy “Two to One” at 8 p.m. The summer break at “Cinema on Site” is over. Once a month, special films are again on the program in the community center in Bischofsheim. Cinema day is always a Thursday. As in the previous season, two different films will be shown at 5.30 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The film “The Equation of Her Life” at 5.30 p.m. focuses on a young student with an extraordinary mathematical talent. She is about to finish her dissertation when she is shown to have made a mistake in her research into prime numbers. This event causes her to draw a line under her previous life. She moves into a shared apartment and now learns a lot of unknown things in more normal worlds. She is able to use her special mathematical talent to her advantage and then tackles the solution of the mathematical problem again. The main role in this multifaceted and entertaining film is played by Ella Rumpf from Switzerland. She was awarded the Best Young Actress award for her role as the highly intelligent mathematician.
At 8 p.m., “Two to One” follows, a remarkable story from the time of German reunification. The film is set in 1990 and deals with an apparently lucrative coup in connection with the introduction of the DM in the GDR. The comedy is based on a real criminal case and provides an amusing insight into the diverse expectations, hopes, but also uncertainties shortly before reunification. The film is convincing not only because of its comedic scenes; it also allows for thoughtful undertones. Its authentic setting transports the viewer to a German past that is worth remembering. The characters are played by prominent actors. Among those taking part are Sandra Hüller, Ronald Zehrfeld and Peter Kurth.
Doors open half an hour before the start. Tickets are available at the box office for an entrance fee of eight euros.
