Vorsprung Online – CDU pleased with movement on the subject of a new Main crossing

The aim should be to relieve the citizens of heavy traffic, but also to offer new transport alternatives. With the announcement of the feasibility study by the RheinMain regional association, which was reported on last week, the topic is now moving.

In their election program, the Hanau Christian Democrats already called for the examination of another Main crossing between Hanau and Offenbach. There is no bridge for motorized private transport between the Steinheimer Bridge and the Carl-Ulrich Bridge in Offenbach. In addition, the elimination of the ferry between Mühlheim and Dörnigheim will lead to an increase in traffic in the area of Konrad-Adenauer-Straße and Kesselstadt.

“An additional bridge would provide traffic calming for residents in this area. Anyone coming from Mühlheim to Hanau will regularly find themselves in a long queue in the left-turn lane. We are therefore pleased that the planning is now entering the next phase,” said parliamentary group leader Isabelle Hemsley.

The bridge is to be designed in such a way that it can be used by motorized individual traffic, public transport, pedestrians and cyclists. This recommendation was the result of a preliminary review of the project by Hessenmobil. “It is right and important that when it comes to mobility, all road users are considered in the planning. This is the only way to successfully shape the mobility of the future,” concluded party chairman Jens Böhringer.
