VORONEZH, October 28. /TASS/. The Voronezh football club “Fakel” beat Moscow “Spartak” with a score of 2:0 in the match of the 13th round of the World – Russian Premier League (RPL). The meeting took place in Voronezh at the Central Trade Union Stadium in the presence of 11,609 spectators.
Evgeny Markov (70th minute, from the penalty spot) and Maxim Maximov (84) scored goals for the hosts. In the 70th minute, Spartak defender Srdjan Babic was sent off.
Spartak beat Fakel in the previous six meetings. Since the return of the Voronezh team to the top division, the teams have met four times – twice in the championship (4:1 and 3:2) and twice in the Fonbet RPL – Russian Cup (3:0 and 2:1). Until today, Fakel’s only victory over Spartak was dated August 5, 2000.
Spartak is in 4th place in the RPL standings; Guillermo Abascal’s men have 20 points in 13 matches. “Fakel” is 11th with 15 points after 13 meetings. In the next round, Spartak will play away against Lokomotiv Moscow on November 5, and Fakel will meet Akhmat Grozny the day before.
