Vondroušová advanced in Dubai after Collins’ hamster, Macháč has her first win

Tennis player Markéta Vondroušová advanced to the second round at the tournament in Dubai after the American Danielle Collins gave up the duel after an hour of play. Although the Australian Open finalist won the opening set 6: 2, the Czech player took the lead 3: 0 in the second. The world number 11 then cringed for the match. Tomáš Macháč scored his first ATP circuit tournament at the tournament in Marseille.

Vondroušová, who passed the main competition from the qualification in Dubai, struggled to serve in the opening set and kept her service only once. Collins quickly took the lead 5: 1, but in the seventh gam, the first hesitation came from her side. She reacted to the loss of serve from the setball with an angry rocket throw, but then, during Vondrouš’s service, she turned into another opportunity.

In the second set, Vondroušová won a long introductory game when serving her opponent, confirmed the break and subsequently took Collins and other service. The American then requested treatment, had her pressure measured on her bench in tears and decided not to continue.

Kateřina Siniaková, on the other hand, was eliminated in the first round of the tournament in Dubai with Garbiňa Muguruzaová. She lost 6: 7, 6: 2, 2: 6 to the Spanish defending champion.

The tie-break then lost 5: 7, but in the second set she got the game back under control and equalized in 34 minutes. The third set was decided by the sixth game, in which Siniaková lost her service after a long fight. Immediately, she herself did not take two chances to break, and the Muguruza offered two swordfish in the next game with a ninth double mistake.

Jiří Veselý did not catch up with the promising match with Arthur Rinderknech in Doha and said goodbye to the Qatar tournament in the first round. The Czech three lost to their French opponent in the first duel after almost two and a half hours 6: 3, 6: 7, 4: 6.

Twenty-eight-year-old Veselý won the opening set thanks to a quick break in 43 minutes, but in the second, both players kept the serve. The Czech tennis player did not use two breakballs in the eleventh game, and then averted the setball during his service. In the tie-break, however, Rinderknech dominated, winning it 7: 4.

Veselý then lost service right at the beginning of the third set. In the sixth gamma, he did not use the four options for a break and did not eliminate the shortage.

The 21-year-old Macháč, who holds 115th place in the ranking, defeated Damir Džumhura from Bosnia 1: 6, 6: 3, 6: 1 in the first round in a duel of two qualifiers. His next opponent will be another player from the qualification, Russian Roman Safiullin.

Macháč made it to the main competition of the ATP Tour event for the second time in his career and for the first time this season. Last year, he tested the elite circuit at one of Melbourne’s preparatory tournaments before the Australian Open. He entered today’s duel with Jumhur, currently the 140th player in the ATP standings, with a loss of service and was unable to continue his service.

Macháč lost the first set in 32 minutes, but then the situation changed. While the Czech tennis player increased the success of the first service and diverted all breakballs, the opponent stopped doing well. At the end of the third set, Macháč Džumhura, whose maximum in the world rankings was 23rd place in 2018, lost.
