EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will receive British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Brussels on Wednesday (2pm). The meeting is about the European Union’s relationship with Great Britain four and a half years after Brexit. Both sides want a rapprochement. Germany and France are also pushing for an EU migration deal with London to reduce the number of irregular immigrants.
Starmer is visiting Brussels for the first time since he was elected in July. In his own words, the Labor politician wants a “fresh start” with the EU. It voted to remain in the Union in the Brexit referendum in 2016, but a new referendum is currently banned.
