Volvo has modernized its compact crossovers XC40 and C40, increasing their range up to 581 kilometers.
Instead of refreshing the appearance, color palette and equipment packages, the Swedish automaker focused on the technical side in the modernization process, therefore the compact crossover XC40 and its twin brother with a coupe-like body C40 got a new, self-developed permanent magnet synchronous motor, which is no longer attached to the front axle. but has been moved to the rear for better traction when driving the rear wheels. The manufacturer adds that better traction has also been achieved for the two-engine modifications of the models.
Another benefit is a larger power reserve, which increases to 581 kilometers on a single charge for both electric vehicles, while the power of the electric motor is now slightly higher – 175 kW (238 hp).
In Germany, the price of the basic rear-wheel drive model starts at 47,500 euros, regardless of the chosen body type.
