Waymo (owned by Alphabet) and Volvo have agreed to work together on unmanned electric vehicles for passenger traffic, Reuters writes. The agreement is part of a global partnership of companies.

The Alphabet subsidiary will become Volvo’s exclusive global partner. The company will help the automaker in creating a fourth-level autonomy system when the presence of a person behind the wheel is not needed, The Verge clarifies. Such “drones” can move independently, but in a limited area and in certain conditions, for example, only in good weather, the publication clarifies.

Volvo has a valid Uber drone agreement for Uber, Reuters recalls. Uber started testing cars in 2016. But in 2018, the company suspended trips after an accident in which a pedestrian died.
