– An interim conclusion after the first voluntourism operations in the southern Black Forest.
Numerous helpers have helped with the past four day operations as part of the project “Voluntourism for biological diversity in the national natural landscapes”. The interim conclusion: a growing mixed forest on the Feldberg, 2000 square meters more biotope area for the capercaillie on the Rohrhardsberg and areas on the Titisee free of balsam. “It’s nice to see that we can make a contribution to biological diversity even with limited time and a small, motivated group,” says Christine Peter, who coordinates the project at the Southern Black Forest Nature Park.
A total of 12 such assignments will take place in 2023 in cooperation with numerous committed project partners from the region. Volunteers have until the end of October the opportunity to work together with foresters, rangers and other experts – and without any previous knowledge, including new encounters, snacks and all kinds of new experiences. It continues on September 1, 2023 with the keeping open of valuable biotopes on the Rohrhardsberg.
The aim of the “Voluntourism for Biological Diversity in National Natural Landscapes” project, which is funded by the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation with funds from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, is to make an active contribution to the protection and promotion of biological diversity and at the same time to encourage the participants to raise awareness of their importance.
