Volunteers Provide Lifesaving Blood Donations on Naval Frigate

Valparaiso. On the morning of Tuesday, October 24, professionals from the “Almirante Nef” Naval Hospital, led by S1º Francisco Rivas, were received on the Frigate “Almirante Cochrane” to continue the work of the Blood Bank Mobile Unit that allows support to the different medical facilities of the naval health system for the requirements of its beneficiaries.

In this way, various members of the crew came voluntarily to support this noble work, where they were received by the Medical Technologist Sebastián Ibarra and the C1º Daniel Hernández.

In that sense, all volunteers, prior to the blood collection process, were subjected to verification tests to ensure that they met the conditions required to be a blood giver.

The contribution of the Staff will benefit patients of the Naval Hospital to treat a series of conditions and pathologies, and also provide this essential element necessary for multiple surgical interventions and face emergencies.

In this regard, Medical Technologist Sebastián Ibarra indicated that “the support provided on the frigate ‘Almirante Cochrane’ was expeditious and with a continuous flow of donors. Above all, the altruistic attitude of the staff in supporting surgical interventions, receiving platelets and remedying hospital needs, among others, stands out.”
