You can only take out voluntary unemployment insurance if you meet all the criteria, for example not having reached the legal retirement age AOW.

Deadlines for making the request
Voluntary insurance must be requested within the required timeframe, i.e., depending on your situation, within 13 weeks of:
- the day of your departure abroad
- the day your compulsory insurance with your employer ends
- the first day of your activities abroad
Costs
If you subscribe to the voluntary insurance of the UWV, you have to pay a contribution.
