In the parliamentary elections in April last year, about 14,000 voters voted for the BSP in the Dobrich region, on 2 October their number was less than 7,000, said resigned regional BSP president Dobrich Rumen Muntyanov and added:
“The party is unable to maintain a stable majority, indeed there is a tendency to decrease sympathizers, people who identify with the leftist idea. I do not accept to a large extent what is happening respectively at the national and local levels” .
Rumen Muntyanov did not comment on whether BSP leader Cornelia Ninova should resign, but stressed: “I would say it is good when there are unsatisfactory results, to take some responsibility.”
The regional leader believes that BSP could sit at the negotiating table with GERB, but this, according to him, is a last option. He still predicted that a government would be formed, but the BSP would not be a part of it.
“The reason in this situation requires, even on an incomplete horizon, that there is a government that takes the appropriate measures, because the things that are happening inside and outside the country should not be underestimated,” Muntyanov commented.
