Volt permanently expels Gundogan from faction and expels her as a member

Volt permanently removes Member of Parliament Nilüfer Gündogan from the group and expels her as a party member. According to the party, it is “reasonably” not possible to keep her with the party a mail sent tonight to the 13,000 members of Volt. According to the party board, Gündogan is sailing completely its own course and is thereby disadvantaged “unreasonably”.

Gundogan was expelled from the group last month after reports of transgressive behavior were received. Thirteen reports have been reported, ranging from physical assault and unwelcome sexual advances to intimidation and abuse of her position.

The Member of Parliament subsequently reported libel and slander against Volt employees who had expressed complaints about her. She also filed a report against the Volt party board and the two other party members, party leader Laurens Dassen and Marieke Koekkoek.

The judge recently ruled in summary proceedings that Volt had to withdraw the decision to suspend Gundogan. Volt leader Dassen then said his party had “just not done this right”.

Now the party board writes in an email to members that Gundogan’s response to the reports goes against Volt’s values. The declarations are mentioned as an example, as is her reaction in an article in NRC about the matter.

Also Gündogan’s performance by last night on the talk show Jinek disgusts the party leadership. In it, she said she plans to expand her libel and slander report. Two days earlier, her two fellow MPs had been correct demanded that she would withdraw the declarations altogether.

According to the board, the MP has not shown in her public statements about the reports “that she is willing to see the seriousness of the matter”. She would even act “as if her behavior is not serious”.
