In the debut of the Portuguese coach Rui Vitoria in Super League 1, Panathinaikos prevailed in Volos of the local team with 1-0 and rose to the 4th place in the standings (following the match of AEK in Peristeri with Atromitos). Trifylli in the first half showed signs of recovery, however in the second half, despite their opponent playing with 10 players, they were unable to score a second goal with Ioannidis missing (and) a penalty.
The greens entered the game strongly and before the first 25 minutes were completed they had scored a goal and had two goals with Tete (4′ and 21′).
The score opened in the 14th minute. Mladenovic assisted Djurisic and he made it 0-1 with an excellent finish.
In the 24th minute, the hosts came close to equalizing, but Dragovski with a great intervention denied the goal from Kozsta.
In the 32nd minute, Ioannidis went behind the opponent’s defense, but Kovacs caught him and removed the danger.
In the delays of the first half, Panathinaikos gained a numerical advantage, as Correa overthrew Tete and faced the red card. The Volos defender was the last player and stopped the Brazilian striker illegally.
In the 58th minute, Ioannidis missed a great opportunity to “clean up” the match and in the 62nd minute, Kovacs saved Unai’s shot.
In the 68th minute, Volos threatened again with Kozsta, while in the 76th minute, Tete was off target.
In the 80th minute, Bakaseta’s shot went wide and in the 83rd minute, Kovacs blocked a shot from Cerin.
Missed penalty
In the 84th minute, Panathinaikos won a penalty when the ball found Ferrari’s hand after Arao’s turn. In the next minute, Ioannidis executed the last of the penalties, but Kovacs defeated the Greek forward.
In the 87th minute, Ioannidis missed a new opportunity, missing from the height of the small area with a header.
In 94′, Pelistri passed to Cerin and he missed from the height of the large area.
Angelos Evangelou dismissed Correa, and showed a yellow card to Ferrari, Koba, Aslanidis, Vijafanes, Unai, Arao, Djurisic. Panathinaikos goalkeeper coach Giorgos Mountakis also received a red card for protesting.
