American actress Hayden Penettieri admitted that she suffered from severe alcohol and drug addiction, she was with Ukrainian boxer Volodymyr Klitschko, reports the portal “People”.
According to Penettieri, who started her career as an actress early, she first got acquainted with “happy pills” at the age of 15. Someone from the team started giving it to the girl to make her more lively during the interview.
“When I became an adult, drugs and alcohol became something I almost couldn’t live without,” admitted the actress.
Hayden didn’t drink while pregnant with daughter Kay, but she broke down during postpartum depression.
“I never wanted to hurt my child, but I didn’t want to be with him at all. There was only gray in my life,” she recalled.
As Penetieri admitted, she started drinking secretly, and her relationship with Klitschko soured.
“He didn’t want to be around me. I didn’t want to be around me. But opiates and alcohol worked to make me feel happy for a while,” the star said.
“I could wake up shaking from a hangover and only calm myself down with a sip of alcohol,” Hayden admitted.
In 2018, the actress decided that Kaya should live with Volodymyr in Ukraine.
“It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. But I wanted to be a good mother to her – and sometimes that means letting go,” she explained.
The actress spent eight months in a rehabilitation facility. She is very grateful that she managed to “return to this world” and believes that fate gave her a second chance.
Hayden and Volodymyr started dating in 2009. Two years later, the couple publicly announced that they had broken up, but remained good friends. In April 2013, in one of the interviews, the actress admitted that the two had renewed their romantic relationship. In October of the same year, the couple announced their engagement, and a year later their daughter was born.
