Volleys on course in the premier class – Berlin.de

The Berlin Volleys are absolutely on target in the group stage of the Volleyball Champions League and are looking for a new outside attacker. Halfway through the games to be completed, they got six out of nine possible points. “Measured by the points, we have achieved an optimal yield for us,” said manager Kaweh Niroomand on Thursday. The 68-year-old complains: “I don’t like the way that we were given points at the green table.”

The game against Jastrzebski Wegiel scheduled for this Thursday was rated 3: 0 (25: 0, 25: 0, 25: 0) for the BR Volleys. Due to the corona illness of some players, the Polish team could not take part in the three-day preliminary round tournament in Berlin. For Wegiel, the games against the two other group opponents Volley Ljubljana and Zenit Kazan were also rated as lost.

The Berlin team won 3-0 against Ljubljana and lost 3-0 the day after against Kazan. It was annoying for the BR Volleys that attacker Samuel Tuia tore a tendon in his foot shortly before the end of the game against the Slovenes and is now six to eight weeks out. The BR Volleys are already looking to sign a new outside attacker. According to Niroomand, the implementation of the personnel change is to be expected shortly.

The second half of the Champions League will be played in Kazan from February 9th to 11th. Niroomand remains skeptical about the venue: “Let’s wait and see if it works at all. There is currently an entry ban in Russia due to Corona. ”
