VOLLEYBALL – Sens Volley 89 remains undefeated against Amiens Longueau, but loses first place in the rankings

This Saturday evening, the Sens Volley 89 players continued their winning streak by winning a fifth consecutive match against Amiens Longueau. Although the forecasts gave the advantage to the Lionesses, the confrontation was more contested than anticipated, testifying to the resistance of Amiens and the stakes of the playoffs.

The match started auspiciously for Sens, who won the first two sets in tense scores (26-24, 25-19), showing solid defense and cohesion against opposing attacks. However, far from being overwhelmed, Amiens Longueau raised its level of play and won the third set (22-25), thus inflicting one of the rare rounds lost this season by the Senoneses. Despite this loss, Sens reasserted their dominance by regaining control in the fourth set (25-18), thus securing their 3-1 victory.

A tight ranking issue

This success, however, was not enough to keep Sens Volley 89 at the top of the rankings. Valenciennes, also undefeated but with only one round lost in total, took the lead thanks to this slight advantage. Well positioned, the Lionesses however remain in the running to regain first place in the next meetings.

Words from coach Simon Garel

« This match was more difficult than expected. Amiens showed real determination and a level of play higher than what the initial ranking suggested. After two well-managed first sets, our opponents were able to increase the pace to take a set from us. But our team showed solidity and resources to regain the advantage in the fourth set. This fifth consecutive victory demonstrates our progress and motivates us to continue this dynamic to regain the lead in the ranking. »
