VOLLEYBALL – MADAGASCAR CUP U23

The Gendarmes achieve a double at the Madagascar U23 Cup in Fianarantsoa.

The Gendarmes retain their title. The National Volleyball Gendarmerie (Gnvb) achieves a nice double at the Madagascar U23 volleyball cup. The finals, between teams from Analamanga, took place on Saturday at the Ambatomena gymnasium in Fianarantsoa. Among the boys, the reigning champion team confirmed its supremacy. The Gendarmes Espoir defeated the volleyball players of Akany Sambatra Itaosy (Asi) in a final duel by 3 sets to 0. The Betongolo team had already beaten the Itaosy club by 3 to 0 during the fifth and final day of the group stage Thursday. In the semi-finals, Gnvb defeated Atsimo Atsinanana’s Farafangana Volleyball Club (CVBF) (3-0) on Friday.

On the girls’ side, the Gnvb team also won its second title in two consecutive seasons by winning against another team from Analamanga, BI’AS d’Itaosy, by 3 sets to 0. The girls from Betongolo beat Cool Club Volleyball (CCVB) from Analamanga in the semi-finals (3-1). Third place went to Atsimo Andrefana’s Green School Volleyball Club (GSCVB), which beat CVBF (3-1) in a classification match on Saturday. Among the girls, Squad-X completes the podium by outclassing, at the end of the suspense, CCVB (3-2). Final point on this eighth national competition of the season. Two other competitions are still on the Malagasy volleyball federation calendar this season. The zone 7 beach volleyball championship is scheduled for the end of November in Mahajanga. The Madagascar Open Cup for non-licensed veterans ends the season in style in mid-December in Manakara.
