Volleyball: Bundesliga women: No points at the 60th – USC is subject to Dresden, but is improved – Münster

There was a cake for the club’s 60th birthday for the players of USC Münster, but the independents had to give up the points once more this season. With 0: 3 (22:25, 22:25, 17:25) the team of trainer Ralph Bergmann was defeated by the Dresdner SC, but as an outsider offered a decent performance over long stretches of the game. “It’s difficult when you lose 3-0 to assess a performance positively. But when you see where we come from and what we discussed during the week, that was appealing from us, ”said Bergmann after the 82 Bundesliga minutes on Berg Fidel.

The USC went into the game with an involuntary change: After her heel injury, Anika Brinkmann was not yet fit enough for her regular position on outside acceptance and therefore swapped roles with the ancestral Libera Linda Bock. An unusual situation for the already insecure independents who received three aces from Jennifer Janiska, Camilla Weitzel and Maja Storck in the initial phase. And since Bock got stuck directly in the Dresden double block with her first attempt at attack, it was quickly 2: 6.

Order found late

No, the order wasn’t quite right yet. But unlike the last time in the more than modest guest appearance in Vilsbiburg (0: 3), Münster presented itself much more aggressively in terms of body language – a point that Bergmann had demanded from his protégés during the week. So his team tried hard to reconnect and stayed in the extended slipstream of the DSC from 6: 8 onwards. Lo and behold, when Madeleine Gates put a ball next to the field, Münster was even back in direct striking distance at 14:15.

Was there something going on for the birthday boy? However, especially when the troubled penultimate was ahead after a block from Juliane Langgemach against Gates 18:17. The USC surprised the second in the table, remained persistent and uncomfortable – and was still ahead at 20:19. But then the Saxons turned out to be a rude guest: Introduced by Bock’s failure to serve, they started a 5-1 run, which Storck ultimately completed at 25:22.

Wezorke, Helo and Bock to 5: 2

The sentence was gone, but the USC didn’t have to worry. It was a decent and much better performance than in Niederbayern, which Münster continued after the break. Captain Barbara Wezorke, Helo Laceidera and Bock made it 5: 2. The miners fought, kept the DSC busy and continued to be brave. The result: Münster was also equal in the middle of the sentence (11:11).

Too bad that there was a lot of quality in the other half of the field – and Dresden played that at the right time. A small intermediate sprint to 16:13 meant the last change in the lead of the second round, also because Münster had bad luck when Helo is said to have touched the ball that jumped from the DSC block after his own attack. Instead of 18:19 it was 17:20, this burden was too heavy with all the zeal and commitment. Two set balls – including one by a service winner from Bock against the national libera Lenka Dürr – was fended off by Münster, but Janiska did not let the third one take her. 22:25, a technical result duplicate of the first section.

Helo Topscorerin, Stigrot strong

Despite the 0-2 set deficit, Münster continued undaunted and wanted to extend the birthday party. Helo, who showed her best performance for the USC and was the top scorer (13 points) of her team, scored 3: 1, a line-up error by the guests caused Münster to rush to 7: 4.

Dresden, however, played the party crash and wanted to return home to Saxony as quickly as possible. At 11:11 everything was balanced again, Storck then pushed the red-blacks decisively with three strong serves at 15:11. Dresden transported this cushion with all routine and cleverness, Münster’s resistance was broken after Stigrot 21:15 at the latest.

A little later Münster’s tenth defeat was certain, with Stigrot Dresden’s best set the final point at 25:17. A quick end for the USC, which can build on this performance. “I take more positive things with me than negative things,” said Bergmann. But there were no points for it either, but at least some hope for improvement.
