The Bundesliga volleyball team from Netzhoppers KW-Bestensee ended the main round of the volleyball Bundesliga with a disappointment. At TSV Haching Munich, the Brandenburgers deservedly lost 2:3 (18:25, 20:25, 25:14, 25:17, 12:15) despite catching up after being 2-0 down in sets. With the two sets won, the Brandenburgers saved one of the three points. They maintained their seventh place in the table in front of the Hachingers with a wafer-thin lead.
The two teams will meet again twice during the second round in group two, which starts on February 4th and consists of clubs from fifth to ninth place in the table. The volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) will publish the schedule shortly.
Netzhoppers coach Tomasz Wasilkowski only had ten players to choose from in Unterhaching. Max Chamberlain, Theo Timmermann and Malachi Murch didn’t even travel to Bavaria because of injuries. The rest of the Brandenburg squad played for two sets quite confused. The assumption didn’t even begin to work, the serve was consistently weak.
However, the Hachingerm lost control of the game after the 2-0 set lead. With improved defensive behavior and more determination when attacking, the Netzhoppers took control of the action. In this phase, Dirk Westphal in particular and substitute Randy Deweese increased the guests’ power in the offensive area considerably.
It went into the tie break. There, the Brandenburgers only led once after an ace by Deweese (5:4). After that, the Hachinger pulled away with five points in a row and did not let the victory be taken away.
