Volkswagen has accustomed many customers over the years to cars capable of satisfying practically everyone.
Volkswagen is a historic brand. Born under the Nazi dictatorship in 1937, it is now one of the best automotive companies in the world. Despite a few hitches too many, such as the dieselgate, the German brand continues its iron and constant march towards the best possible results for as long as the automotive market remains.
After all, as iconic as the past is, no brand can ever, ever afford to stop and superficialize every inexorable minute that passes following successful projects.
Neither Volkswagenwhich in fact has prepared a really screaming promotion. Figures that you certainly don’t see often, not even for the cheapest city cars at the moment. So let’s find out which promotion we are talking about and why it has made so much noise recently.
Volkswagen is serious: unexpected price
The car we are talking about is the Volkswagen ID.2; it’s about the first totally new model for as long as the German brand remains. The dynamic and elegant design is the main proof of this. The cabin is equipped with the highest quality materials, not forgetting the infotainment system which includes a traditional volume control and a separate control block for the internal climate control. The car is also a rarity in terms of load capacity, thanks to a volume that varies from 490 to 1330 litres. To be clear, it is a higher capacity even compared to the largest vehicle classes. The ID.2, which will be the first model of the new series of electric vehicles with front-wheel drive, will debut on the market in 2025.
It will be equipped with a 166 kW engine, an engine capable of going from 0 to 100 in less than seven seconds and comprising a range of up to 450 kilometres. The battery should be 57 kWh, recharging would take twenty minutes to bring the car from 10 to 80%. As long as the battery remains, however, it should be built on the basis of LFP technology – also used by Tesla for cheaper models. At four meters long, 1.81 wide and 1.53 high, it is shorter than both the Golf and the ID.3, but also narrower than the Polo.
As mentioned, a strong point of the ID.2 is the internal spaciousness, practically equal to that of a vehicle of a higher segment. The cabin holds two screens: a 10.9-inch touchscreen and another 12.9-inch for infotainment. Its price should be less than 25 thousand euros. Furthermore, as announced by Thomas Schaefer – number one Volkswagen – in 2026 a compact SUV and an even smaller car called ID.1 will be created. The latter could cost around 18 thousand euros. In short, the lowering of prices also seems to have involved an all-European automotive giant.
