Volkswagen will stop selling combustion engines in Europe by 2035 – Image and sound – News

I fear that electric charging will become more expensive in phases and that we as consumers will eventually be the victims again.

I think that’s okay. Battery prices are falling fast, EVs are quickly getting cheaper. Homes are increasingly producing their own electricity by means of solar panels, heat demand is decreasing (houses are better insulated and heating techniques are becoming more efficient.

Where is it going wrong? The energy transition is going slowly, the power grid is overloaded, gas infrastructure is being used less and less, district heating is too expensive.

As far as I’m concerned, it makes sense to increase the tax on natural gas (so that the price is twice as high in the long run) so that people want to get rid of natural gas. You can use the income to improve the network and possibly to subsidize district heating (although lowering that price can also be done by means of another calculation to determine the cost price; there is now a huge standing right on district heating, while that is quite low for gas ).

Long story short, I see in the short term that fossils should become more expensive. But also that electricity becomes cheaper due to decentralized production.

The next step is to make it impossible with home charging..

That really sounds like doomsday to me. In many places, people depend on their own charging stations. That would not be useful for car manufacturers at all. In addition, this goes against the social movement that things are becoming decentralized. But also something like ‘right to repair’, because then you will soon be able to fix up your own car but no longer charge it.

Incidentally, charging at home can be quite expensive. If you want to be able to load a bit smoothly, you have to go from a 1×40 or 3×25 to a 3×35 amp connection (or more). Or from 3×35 (if you have a heat pump) to more than that. then you will lose hundreds of euros extra per year on standing charges. Well, you saved (relatively little on standing dues by missing a gas connection.

Until then, I still “enjoy” my petrol car.

I think that a lot of people who have a Hybrid or have driven an EV would like to have an EV. The peace and quiet on board is really great and the fast acceleration is also great. A colleague of mine has an e-Golf and always rents a car for his holidays. This is financially very advantageous and gives it the comfort of the EV in daily transport. And mind you, these are people who previously drove in the D or E segment (say Mercedes C or E class) but then the e-Golf still feels more luxurious.
