Volkswagen unveils the new Amarok pickup, starting with the Matrix LED headlights

Volkswagen Amarok, a sibling of the Ford Ranger, begins to reveal itself about a month and a half before the scheduled premiere date – July 7. The carmaker for higher equipment promises headlights with LED Matrix technology, which it calls IQ.Light, and presents them with a short video.

But the most important thing in the video is not the lights or the fact that amarok will have matrices. These are gradually getting into an increasing number of cars and for example, the modernized polo has them, albeit in a very simple variant. The very conclusion of the video is important, when we see the silhouette of the prepared amarok and something from the contours of the hood and front mask.

The second generation of the Volkswagen Amarok pick-up will come in collaboration with Ford – the car will share a platform and a range of components with the recently introduced ranger. The differences from the ranger will be enormous, as both carmakers often fail to emphasize – even some engines will be different.

The amarok LED headlights are already standard, but the optional matrices should be about twice as strong. Under the shell should be petrol and diesel four- and six-cylinder and all-wheel drive either permanent or assignable depending on the version. Ford is to procure production at its factory in Pretoria, South Africa.
