The inexpensive SUV of the German manufacturer Volkswagen Tharu was first introduced two years ago. So far, only Chinese dealers have been offering it, but already this year the company’s Russian production site will launch the cross. In Russia, it will be called Tarek.
As shown by studies of the automobile market in China, last month Volkswagen sellers were able to sell more than 16 thousand Tharu. The budget crossover overtook the previous bestseller of the brand – Volkswagen Tiguan (16 thousand copies), as well as the South Korean sales leader Kia Sportage (9 thousand pieces) in popularity.
Buyers are offered three power units: a supercharged 1.2-liter, 116 horsepower, a 1.4-liter TSI with a return of 150 hp. and 186-strong “aspirated”, a volume of 2.0 liters. For all engines, a 6-speed manual or “robot” DSG7 is offered. Unlike the Chinese market, where only front-wheel drive is available, Russian customers will be able to purchase an all-wheel drive system as an option.
The SUV is equipped with a full range of active and passive safety systems, a digital instrument panel and wireless charging for smartphones.
Buyers in China are offered a car for 169.8 – 229.8 thousand yuan, which at the current rate is 1.6 – 2.2 million rubles.
