The side doors of some Volkswagen ID.4s can open on their own at low speeds. The recall affected vehicles manufactured for the US market.
Volkswagen is recalling 35,325 ID.4 electric crossovers due to the sudden opening of side doors at low speeds. About it reported on the InsideEVs website.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that the Volkswagen ID.4, which was built in the German city of Zwickau, has problems with the design of the side doors. Vehicles for the US market produced from December 2020 to December 2022 have this problem.
Volkswagen has already recalled cars with a defect. They were fitted with door handles that didn’t meet factory specifications for water ingress protection. Due to the ingress of moisture on them, the doors could be unlocked on the go.
The problem is observed while driving at speeds up to 15 km / h. The defective door handles were made by the Czech supplier WITTE Automotive.
All repairs will be carried out at the expense of the manufacturer. All Volkswagen ID.4 owners who have found a similar defect can contact the brand representatives.
Previously Focus said that Volkswagen will release a family electric car ID.7 with a power reserve of 700 km.
