The manufacturer Volkswagen (VW) will have to pay a fine of 125 million Australian dollars (91 million dollars or 76 million euros) for the manipulation of emissions of gases in its diesel vehicles in Australia, according to a decision of the High Court of the country published this Friday.
The highest court in Australia rejected an appeal by Volkswagen to a ruling issued initially in December 2019 by the country’s Federal Court, which ordered it to pay those 125 million local dollars of fine for violating the Australian Consumption Law and which was corroborated last April by the plenary session of magistrates.
