The Germans are preparing a cheap electric car, quoted at about 20,000 euros. The model will be positioned under ID.3, which starts in Romania at 31,421 euros. It will most likely be the size of Polo. However, the model will not reach the market until 2025, although initially, its arrival was to take place in 2023. It is the revelation made by the company’s CEO, Ralf Brandstatter. He presented the new Volkswagen strategy, which will be carried out under the title Accelerate.

A car priced at 20,000 euros could be purchased by Romanian customers for only 10,000 euros if they access the funds reserved for the Rabla Plus program.

Cheap electric car from Volkswagen and an electric model every year

Volkswagen is accelerating the process of electrifying the model range. The company’s goal is that, by 2030, 70% of the cars sold will be zero-emission models. The target percentage is 50% in the Chinese and United States markets.

The Germans plan to launch an electric car every year until 2030. The first on the list will be ID.5, which will debut in the second half of this year.

The car group will invest 16 billion euros in electromobility, hybridization and digitization by 2025.

Ralf Brandstatter also announced his intention to reduce fixed costs by 5% over the next two years, while increasing production capacity by 5% per year.

Volkswagen also aims to develop an improved version of the MEB platform, on which the group builds electric cars, with a view to greater autonomy and higher charging speeds.

This is good news for Golf fans. The compact will also receive the ninth generation. Volkswagen also has new generations on the list for the Tiguan, Passat and T-Roc, Brandstatter announces.
